Skygazers hoping to see the rare lunar eclipse of "blood moon" are disappointed by the clouds that ruin their view
The celestial phenomenon took place a few hours after thunderstorms swept the British Isles Friday night .
While others around the world shared photos of the eclipse, social networking users in the UK were displaying gray cloud images
. Hopes encamped on Primrose Hill were treated in a dark sky. 19659005] The gray cover also frustrated the people of Hampshire and Wiltshire in the south and southwest, in Hull in east Yorkshire, Liverpool in the northwest and Dublin in Ireland.

Many aired their frustration by making sarcastic comments next to their moonless photos.
Some British were luckier, however, with the Grenadier Guards stationed in Iraq displaying footage of troops watching a red moon suspended in a clear sky.
The lunar eclipse, which was to last about 103 minutes, saw the end of the "total" phase around 22:13
For those who had the chance to see it, the event was able to to be seen without wearing protective gear.
The visible lunar eclipse in the United Kingdom will take place on January 19, 2019.
