A van driver in the Canadian city of Ottawa was fired after being repeatedly filmed splashing pedestrians.
The company Black & McDonald says that the individual concerned is no longer employed with them after a "social behavior has become viral," reports the Canadian broadcaster CBC.
A 45-second clip, filmed on a backside dashcam, shows the unidentified driver heading toward the sidewalk on a rainy day to water pedestrians at least three times. At the very end of the clip, the company logo is clearly visible on the side of the vehicle.
The video was viewed more than 750,000 times, and Black & McDonald subsequently apologized for their driver's behavior on his Facebook page.
It is written, "We apologize to all those who have been affected by the unacceptable driving incident committed in Ottawa by one of our truckers … It's about An isolated incident and the person is no longer employed at Black & McDonald. "[19659010] A spokeswoman also said that the company had cooperated with the police during the incident.
"Clbadified Case"
According to the Ottawa Sun newspaper, the driver will not be charged with any criminal charge, as the police believe that the driver's referral is a sufficient punishment.
"We consider the file is now closed", Sgt. Mark Gatien told the press. "The result of the employer seems to us enough for a lesson learned for him and your readers and viewers."
The company's quick response was hailed by social media, with an unemployed construction worker fuming at the lack of respect shown by the driver.
"They do not pay you to use their fleet vehicles to soak pedestrians," he said.
