The National Conservation Order, more commonly known as the Pipe Ban, is in place until mid-August for all public water supplies and commercial premises for non-commercial activities
Water restrictions are now in place for more than 30 locations across Dublin and Wicklow, where water pressure will be lowered between 10am and 5pm.
Following the recent heat wave, many parts of the country entered an "absolute drought" because there had been more than 15 consecutive days without rain.
Rains are expected this week, but Irish Water warned that it took at least four weeks to replenish stocks.
