We live in the future

As a society, we are all pretty obsessed with technology.

Try to go about an hour without using your phone and you will understand exactly what we mean. 19659003] And if you watched Black Mirror, you will be very aware of how technology will betray us.

But this latest development by An Post seems to be rather cool, and hopefully harmless.

On July 5, An Post made its first autonomous parcel shipment from the mainland to the island with the help of a drone.

Thursday after 3:30 pm, An Post delivered a Roonagh Pier drone package to Mayo in Clare Island.

After a number of questions and criticisms on Twitter, An Post dispelled any doubt as to whether the drone took the job of a human, saying, "Our postal operations have a lot parcels, parcels and letters to be delivered to Clare Island and everywhere else. "

We do not know if this will prove to be the future of post office deliveries in Ireland, but we are certainly happy to see what comes then, and based on this statement by An Post, we could see more soon: "Sunshine certainly did a nicer exercise. We do not currently use drones just to test the future possible."
