Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope star Nika McGuigan and Brooklyn‘s Nora-Jane Noone have begun filming Wildfire, described as “the story of two sisters who grew up on the fractious Irish border”.

The drama sees one of the sisters, who has been missing, return home and as the bond between them strengthens once again, family secrets are unearthed.

Wildfire marks the feature directing debut of Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope director Cathy Brady, who took part in a year-long workshop process with her two stars before she wrote the script.

The Irish-UK co-production will film in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland for six weeks and has been supported by Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, Northern Ireland Screen, the British Film Institute and Film4, among others.

Wildfire will be introduced to potential buyers at the world’s largest film business event, the American Film Market, which begins in Santa Monica, California on Wednesday, October 31.
