Police arrested James W. Trainor, 36, on Monday and charged him with property damage.
Police were called to downtown Roanoke around 7:30 am following reports of a man carrying bricks, according to CNN WSLS affiliate. They discovered the damage in Warner's office shortly thereafter.
According to Warner's team, the office still had to open and no one was injured in the attack
"This morning before 8 o'clock, an individual threw a brick," said Rachel Cohen, Warner's director of communications, to CNN. "Fortunately, because of the early hour, no one was in the office at that time."
At this point, the police did not determine the motive for the attack
"Senator Warner is extremely grateful to the Roanoke Police Department, which is investigating," said Cohen.Warner's office said the Capitol police had been in contact with the Roanoke police.
