A New Reading Program to Encourage Children to Read has been Launched in Galway

Summer Stars is a free reading program for all children across the country, which was launched this week at the Library of Reading. 39; Oranmore. Seán Kyne, Minister of State for Community Development,

Summer Stars takes place during the summer in public libraries and children are invited to enroll in the program and read as many books as & nbsp; They can. All participants will receive a Summer Stars playing card to record and track their own progress. There will be rewards and incentives along the way and a big final event at the end for all participants.

The Summer Stars website, www.summerstars.ie, also offers online games and activities, a range of animated ebooks, a discussion for kids board, and interviews with well-known people about their favorite books. There are also helpful tips for reading and recommended headings by age group for kids to read. The books can then be borrowed from your local library service. And it's FREE!

Last year, 45,000 books were read as part of the Summer Stars Reading Adventure in Galway Libraries.
