Package v Dynamic Vacations

A vacation package booked by a tour operator means it's up to them to take care of you if things go wrong. Ground representatives must reorganize accommodation and take the necessary steps when booking flights.

If the information provided in the brochure is false or misleading, you may seek compensation for any loss or damage caused as a result and apply to the Commission for Competition and Consumer Protection (CCPC).

If an element of the stay changes, you must receive an equivalent or better replacement, or a holiday with a refund of the difference in price or a full refund.

By law, all holiday package providers in Ireland must have provisions in place to ensure that, if they go bankrupt, your money and your reservations are protected.

Luggage delayed

There is nothing more annoying than arriving in Spain to find your suitcases in Italy.

Under the law, checked baggage is considered "lost" if it has not arrived 21 days after the date it was due. Until then, some airlines claim that you are not at a loss, because your bag is only "delayed" and will eventually arrive.

Aer Lingus and Ryanair will deliver the delayed baggage to your local address. You can claim compensation of about € 1,200 for delay, damage or loss.
