Dunnes Stores and Spar recall brand-name pesto-based products due to a salmonella warning

The Food Safety Authority warned that the products may contain harmful bacteria.

Dunnes Stores and Spar recalled some of their own brand pesto products this week due to the possible presence of salmonella.

They said the products are being recalled as a "precautionary measure" and if they have any of the items, they should return them immediately.

The recall notice was published on Friday.

According to the declaration of the Food Safety Authority:

"As a precautionary measure, Dunnes Stores and Spar issue a recall of their own branded pestos, due to the possible presence of Salmonella. who purchased the affected lots must dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase. "

Dunnes Stores products are both 130g containers of basil pesto, expiry date is July 2 2018 until September 25, 2018; and tomato pesto, the expiry dates of which are between July 5, 2018 and September 30, 2018.

Spar products are containers of 125 g of basil pesto with expiry dates of July 2, 2018 and September 30, 2018; and Red Pesto, with expiry dates between July 5, 2018 and September 30, 2018.
