WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Early voting kicked off today in Sedgwick County.
Already, the county is seeing a higher turnout of voters on the first day compared to 2014.
Just before 2 p.m. the county said already 370 people had voted.
“To put that in perspective, the first day of early voting in 2014 we had 370 the entire day,” said Tabitha Lehman, Sedgwick County Elections Commissioner. “We’re not blowing it out of the water, but we’re definitely ahead of where we were in ’14 so we’re excited to see people coming out to vote.”
The election commissioner said it is best to make a plan for voting. That includes requesting mail in ballot, voting early, and finding your polling location.
“Do your research. Go to out website and get your sample ballot, research the candidates on there, you can even print that off and mark it and keep it where no one else in the polling site can see it.”
Lehman said you need to remember to bring a government issued ID to the poll to vote.
