Fatal crash closes NB lanes of I-95 in Milford

Because it’s now a fatal accident, the northbound lanes will be closed longer for a police investigation.

Earlier, Milford firefighters asked police to clear the overpbad bridge that was struck by the dump truck.

There was concern that the bridge may have been damaged from the collision.

The bridge has since been cleared of all traffic.

“The dump truck was traveling north on I-95 and was believed to have the dump body in the up position. The dump truck then struck the Quarry Road overpbad which is located between exits 40 and 41 in Milford just prior to the northbound Milford Rest. The dump truck operator was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital. There are approximately 4 other vehicles involved as well.”

A serious motor-vehicle accident has closed the northbound lanes of I-95 in Milford Thursday morning.

The accident involves a dump truck, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The lanes are closed between Exits 40 and 41.

The accident was reported just before 8 a.m. – the peak of the AM commute.
