The low-cost gym chain is coming to Leeside.
Irish gym chain FLYEfit is set to open its first gym in Cork and two new gyms in Dublin as part of a €6 million expansion in response to what it has described as “exceptional demand”.
The first FLYEfit in Cork, on Oliver Plunkett Street in Cork City, is currently being fitted out and is due to open in January 2019, as are new FLYEfit gyms in Sallynoggin (Pearse Street – formerly Maurice Walsh carpets) and Liffey Valley (Fonthill Road) in Dublin.
The gyms, which range in size between 20,000 and 25,000 square feet, all feature Spin Studios, Cardio and Strength Equipment, an Astro Area, a Free Weights and Functional Zone, boxing zones and Olympic lifting platforms.
The new FLYEfit gym in Cork City, meanwhile, will also include a Conditioning Chamber when it opens. This new facility will be equipped with rowers, ski ergs, badault bikes and air runners.
The fitness chain has proved popular in Dublin in recent years due to its flexible membership model; members pay a €25 joining fee and can then choose to pay €29 per month or €259 annually to access any one gym, or €32 per month or €299 annually to access all FLYEfit gyms.
There is no contract and members can cancel or pause their membership online when they wish.
The expansion will bring the total number of FLYEfit gyms to 14; FLYEfit currently operates 11 gyms in Dublin, including three – at CHQ Vaults, Stillorgan and Tallaght in Dublin – that opened this year.
Commenting on the expansion, a FLYEfit spokesperson said: “Our success is down to the fact that we cater for everyone. Our members include students, business executives, busy mums and dads and elite athletes. Our model is simple – to provide customers with premium facilities, equipment and free clbades at an affordable price. We are expanding into the Dublin suburbs and into Cork city in response to customer demand.
“We are especially delighted to open in Cork which has been on our horizon for some time. We took our time to find the right building in the heart of Cork City and to develop a facility that we know locals will enjoy. The demand for membership has exceeded our expectations and we are looking forward to being part of the local community.”
FLYEfit has introduced a limited pre-opening offer across the three new gyms due to open in early 2019, giving customers the opportunity to sign-up online at the reduced rate of €26 per month or €229 annually in addition to a €25 joining fee.
Full details are available on the FLYEfit website.
