Despite publications in social media and other reports, the Myrtle Beach Police stated that there was no shooting or active shooter on Broadway at the Beach on Wednesday night .

According to Capt. Joey Crosby, the officers responded to Broadway at the Beach for a big fight. During the fight, someone in the crowd referred to a firearm, which caused people to flee. The incident occurred during a fireworks display at the complex.

There was no evidence that the shots were fired and it was not an active sniper situation, according to Crosby.

Dozens of people have posted information about a shootout on social media, information that the police say is inaccurate. [19659002] Inder Gill was on Broadway at the Beach with his friends and family when the incident began. Gill said that he was in a candy store when he saw people running away through the store. He stooped behind a counter where a mother told him that his children had to stay on the ground and that there was a shootout.

"There was a lot of panic," Gill said. Later, he added, "I was just scared."

Gill said the greatest relief was when he joined his family and saw that everyone was fine.
