A 21-year-old Irish woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident on a highway in Canada.

The accident occurred Wednesday north of Maidstone, Saskatchewan

She was the only person to travel in the car.

Emergency services occurred on the scene at approximately 10:30 am Canada time (4:30 pm Irish time) after the car rolled onto Highway 21.

A spokesperson from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police has confirmed to Independent.ie the woman's family has been notified.

In a press release issued yesterday, police said the accident was still under investigation.
