Supermarket chains, including Tesco, Lidl and Iceland, have removed more than a dozen items from the shelves due to a deadly outbreak of listeriosis
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has warned that listeriosis affects a number of European countries, including Ireland.
Nine deaths in Europe have already been badociated with the outbreak, including two in the UK, says the European Food Safety Authority.
Listeriosis is a rare but serious food illness caused by the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes that may be more serious for people who have weakened immune systems, as well as the elderly, pregnant women and infants, reports Mirror Online

The FSAI has published a list of 18 food products, including several sold in Irish supermarket chains, all of which are affected.
A spokesman said: "As a precaution, Greenyard Frozen UK Ltd. is recalling various frozen plant products as they may contain Listeria monocytogenes." The offending lots could cause listeriosis. Listeriosis is a serious life-threatening disease, especially in pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems
"Consumers are advised not to consume these lots. Consumers who do not feel well should consult a doctor.
Store reviews will be posted at all retail stores that sell these products. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have purchased any of the products listed above.
