Man in Derry after being struck by bin lorry

The incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A 51-year-old man died after being struck by a lorry in Limavady in Derry today.

It is reported that the man was a council cleansing operative, and that the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Inspector Siobhan Watt said:

"Police can confirm that a 51-year-old man has died following a road traffic collision at Mount Eden in Limavady around 7.30am this morning, Tuesday 6 November.

"John Winton, a cleansing operative, died as a result of injuries sustained in a collision with the refuse collection.

"Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 195 of 06/11/18," An investigation is under way to establish the full circumstance of the incident.
