Two parents are accused of killing their four-month-old son in a motel in Burlington County, New Jersey.
William Herring, 42, and Brianna Brochhausen, 22, both of Mahwah, New Jersey, are both charged Investigators say Herring and Brochhausen were with their four-month-old son Hunter at Hilltop Motel, on block 100 of Highway 68 in Springfield Township on February 14. Parents were frustrated According to the police, the parents positioned Hunter's stomach on the bed and covered his head and his entire body with a quilt. The parents then went out to smoke and returned to the room about 10 minutes later, where they found out that Hunter was not breathing and was not responding, police said.
The baby was transferred to Virtua Hospital in Mount Holly. Intensive Care Unit at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
The baby died on March 3rd after the withdrawal of life support. The medical examiner determined that he had died of "choking complications" and that his death was declared homicide.
"The thoughtless acts of these people cost the lives of a defenseless four-month-old baby," said Colonel Callahan. The Superintendent of State Police of New Jersey, said. "I congratulate the detectives of our Southern Homicide Unit and Criminal Investigation Bureau for their commitment and dedication to finding justice for Baby Hunter."
Herring and Brochhausen were arrested Monday by the New Jersey State Police.
