The parents of a four-month-old boy who suffocated in February at the motel where the family was living were charged with murder in connection with his death.
William Herring, 42, and Brianna Brochhausen, 22, lived at Hilltop Motel in the block of 68 Highway in Springfield Township at the time of the incident
They were charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder. The charge of endangering the well-being of a child was originally filed on March 9, but the authorities decided to increase the charges after investigation.
Herring and Brochhausen were arrested Monday by the New Jersey police. held Tuesday at the Superior Court in Mount Holly.
Paramedic officers and police officers from the Township of Springfield were called to the motel on the night of February 14th.
Police said that Herring and Brochhausen were frustrated because their son, Hunter, would not stop crying and decide that he should be placed in a "time-out".
Officials said the couple put the baby on the bed and pulled a quilt on him and then went out to smoke cigarettes.
Hunter was rushed to the Virtua Hospital in Mount Holly and immediately transferred to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where he had minimal brain activity and was breathable with the help of a respirator.
He died March 3 after the removal of the support of life.

Herring and Brochhausen were cautioned Monday by the New Jersey State Police.
A first appearance was held on Tuesday at the Mount Holly High Court. A hearing on detention will take place later this week
