Officials Increase Evacuation Orders in Fires of Mendocino Co.

MENDOCINO COUNTY, CA (KCRA) –

Two fires burning near each other in Mendocino County destroyed buildings and caused major evacuations on Sunday, officials said.

The Mendocino complex includes the Ranch and River fires. The fires began Friday and burn about 120 miles southwest of Redding, near the Carr fire that killed six people Sunday afternoon.

The raging fire, burning to the northeast of Ukiah, has reached 13,242 acres and is contained at 5 percent. He destroyed four homes and an outbuilding, according to Cal Fire.

The river fire in Hopland burned 11,028 acres and is contained at 5 percent, according to Cal Fire.

On Sunday, the Lake County Sheriff's Office and the Lakeport Police Department issued a mandatory evacuation order for the Town of Lakeport. unincorporated areas of Lakeport.

Subsequent evacuation orders issued on:

  • Western Lake County: West of Lucerne at Bartlett Springs Road and Highway 20, south of the fire, east of the town. Fire, north of the Lake-Sonoma County Line, including the communities of Blue Lakes, Upper Lake, Nice, Lakeport, Witter Springs, Bachelor Valley, Scotts Valley and Saratoga Springs.
  • The area south of Highway 20 east of Potter Valley Road to the Mendocino-Lake County boundary
  • The Potter Valley Pine Avenue Area

A Evacuation notice was issued Sunday for the Kelseyville and Finley areas.

Sutter Lakeside Hospital says that he must evacuate.

"For the second time in two days, Sutter Lakeside Hospital complies with an emergency order to evacuate the hospital," a statement said Sunday. "The staff has unloaded or transferred an inpatient and seven emergency ward patients to hospitals in the area."

Seven firefighters were injured fighting fires, authorities said Saturday. Four have been treated for heat-related diseases, according to SF Gate.
