Shower towers, likely thunderstorms this week

The rain this weekend was just the beginning of an unusually wet pattern that could cause flood problems on Long Island until the end of the month.

"A cycle of daily rain showers and thunderstorms is likely to be repeated most days this week," says AccuWeather meteorologist Kyle Elliott.

The National Weather Service, from a dangerous meteorological perspective published for the region, says: "An almost stationary frontal system could produce showers and thunderstorms capable of causing flash floods for much of the week.

Tuesday Night- 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, especially after midnight. Very cloudy, with a minimum around 73. Wind south 10 to 13 mph.

Wednesday- At 40 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a maximum near 79.

Wednesday night- Showers likely, mostly after midnight. Overcast with a minimum of 72. Chance of precipitation: 60%. Cloudy, with a high of 79. Chance of precipitation 60%.

Thursday night- Showers likely, mostly before midnight. Overcast with a chance of rain from the rainy day. The precipitation time is 60%.

Friday- At 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high of around 82.

Friday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a minimum around 72.

Saturday – 30 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a maximum of 82.

Saturday Night- 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Very cloudy, with a minimum around 68.

Sunday- Partially sunny, with a maximum near 79.
