BLANDFORD, Mbad. – The entire police department of a small Mbadachusetts city announced Monday its resignation after claiming unsafe working conditions, according to a statement from the Blandford Police Department
.
Officers explained that there was a lack of security with respect to ill-fitting bulletproof vests, defective cars, inadequate staffing and insufficient wages, according to the WWLP.
Officials remind Blandford residents to continue to call 911 for emergencies but have rerouted non-emergency calls to the state.
In a message posted on Twitter, the Mbadachusetts State Police said it pledged to ensure the protection of residents of Blandford
. Decades, the Mbadachusetts police has maintained a strong presence in the city of Blandford, providing police services on a daily basis and responding to emergency and routine calls for service to complement the local department's capabilities, according to the Twitter of the Mbadachusetts State Police. "The people of Blandford can rest badured that the state police will continue to protect their community."
Officers said that they regretted leaving the city without law enforcement, but that they had no choice but their own safety. "We have informed city officials that we are maintaining our commitment to the city and will take on any additional duties required as a result of resignations of local officers," a police spokesman said in a statement.
