The owner of Irish Ferries, ICG, said his Ulysses ferry would be out of service longer than expected.
The ferry, which operates on the Dublin / Holyhead line, reported technical difficulties on 24 June.
He entered dry dock in Belfast on June 28 and ICG thought that the ship's repairs should not last more than five days, which would allow him to resume service on July 4.
"We have been informed they are expecting the vessel to be out of service for another period of one to two weeks," ICG said in a statement released today.
ICG stated that it will adjust the schedules of its other vessels to minimize disruption to customers as much as possible.
She stated that the Dublin-Holyhead line will work with Epsilon on the Ulysses program alongside the Dublin Swift which will operate additional crossings in the evenings.
Irish Ferries apologized to all its pbadengers and freight customers for this technical interruption.
"Despite our best efforts, we can not find any replacement tonnage in what is now the peak tourist season," the company said.
He added that this marked the first major disruption on the Ulysses since the deployment of the ferry on Dublin's Holyhead service in 2001.
Irish Ferries was forced to cancel all trips summer of Dublin in France on his new ship WB Yeats last month
Nearly 20,000 people who had to travel aboard the ship between July 30 and September 17 were affected.
