The man pulled a woman on the rails of the subway in front of a screaming train in Brooklyn on Thursday afternoon, killing both, according to authorities, and the response of the police. Emergency disrupted service along large portions of lines A and C in the middle of the night. The MTA originally said that the man and woman jumped past the bandwagon on Broadway Junction just before 5 pm. However, the NYPD said Friday that the 54-year-old man shot Cynthia Raiser, 42, on the bed of the platform.
Raiser was declared dead on the scene, and the man, whose name was not released, was rushed to the hospital, where police said that he was "dead. He was dead. It was not clear whether the two knew each other.
Lines A and C experienced significant disturbances in Queens and Brooklyn during the evening. The service was still operational Thursday night.
