A young man who has traveled 20 miles to his job can now drive wherever he needs to go.
Barely three days after starting a new job, the company's CEO hung Walter Carr with his own Ford Escape.
The day before Carr left for his new job at Bellhops Moving, his car broke down. But that would not prevent him from coming to work. Carr started walking around midnight Friday, from Homewood to Pelham, determined to help a family move.
Pelham police officers who met Carr on his way took him along Pelham Parkway and then took him to breakfast. They dropped her off at Jennifer Lamey's house half an hour before her appointment.
The family was so touched, Lamey made a post on Facebook. His words on social media have penetrated up to the company's headquarters in Chattanooga. On Monday afternoon, Bellhops CEO Luke Marklin presented Carr with his own personal car in a Birmingham Econo Lodge
In front of a crowd of people in front of the hotel, Marklin handed the keys to Carr. "I would like to give you this car here, today, as today, as if you could drive it," he told Carr.
After an intense moment of shock and fear, Carr talked about her motivation. Carr: "I wanted to show them that I have dedication, and that I still have [it] in my life and that I will get to this job.
