Is a giant American flag painted in field painting. He told USA TODAY, months before the painting develops,

"I just like to go big," he said. He estimates that the flag measures about 30 feet by 20.

McCann, who heads a maintenance department, said it took him about two hours to create the tribute.

McCann said that his grandfather served in the Navy during the Second World War. The flag is an artistic tribute to those who served, he said.

This is the second time that he has painted the flag before an annual 4th of July party at his home. He said people were pbading to see the flag.

It's a patriotic community, he said. There are many flags posted in his neighborhood. There are also a large number of veterans who live in the area, southwest of Boston.

He hopes no one will take the flag in the wrong way. This is not a political statement for him – it's a patriotic message: "I'm really doing it for a positive message," he said.
