Tragedy as man dies after being hit by train

A man has died after being hit by a train in Lurgan.

It happened at the William Street crossing at around 8.30pm.

Police and the Fire Service are at the scene.

The Ambulance Service said they responded to a report of a pedestrian hit by a train and a crew was sent to the scene.

Police said William Street had been closed and advised motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area.

Belfast to Dublin service.

Sinn Fein MLA John O'Dowd offered his condolences. He said it was unconnected to an earlier incident.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the deceased in the tragedy."
