WASCO, CA – A Californian detainee serving a sentence for molesting a child under the age of 14 was beaten to death by a comrade over the weekend, officials said. Agustin Duran, 66, was hit in the face and chest by 19-year-old Andrés Ayon at Wasco State Prison on Saturday night, officials said in a statement released Wednesday night

Just after 8:20 pm, Duran was flown to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead around 4:45 pm. Sunday. He had served 55 years of his life with parole for lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 in Los Angeles County.
Ayon was treated at the prison for minor injuries and was placed in the institution. administrative isolation unit.
Ayon was serving a six-year prison term in Kern County for theft and use of a deadly weapon.
