The estranged wife of Dallas native Richard Spencer has accused the “alt-right” leader of being “physically, emotionally, verbally and financially abusive,” BuzzFeed News reported.

Nina Koupriianova outlined her allegations against Spencer when she filed for divorce in a Montana district court in June.

In court documents recently obtained by BuzzFeed, Koupriianova said that in one instance, Spencer dragged her down the stairs by her legs, arms and hair, and threw her on the couch while she was sick because he wanted to watch a movie.

Much of the abuse happened in front of the couple’s two young children, the documents stated.

In court filings, Spencer disputed many of Koupriianova’s accounts and “denies each, every, and all allegations” including that he has increased his alcohol consumption, which “contributes to his aggressive and erratic behavior and reduces his impulse control,” BuzzFeed reported.

The couple married in 2010 and have been living separately since July 2017. A judge has denied their lawyer’s attempts to have their divorce filings sealed, BuzzFeed reported.

The filings include screenshots of conversations between the two in which Koupriianova references some of the abuse as well as photos that reportedly show her bruises.

Koupriianova said Spencer would tell her that, “The only language women understand is violence,” BuzzFeed reported. Koupriianova has been reluctant to call police or get a protective order for fear of “further reprisal” by Spencer, her lawyers said in the documents.
