CLEVELAND – The Boston Celtics rested star guard Kyrie Irving for his 116-106 win Tuesday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday.

Irving is averaging 23.8 points, and the Celtics want to keep it as cool as possible before the playoffs.

The Al Horford Center (painful left knee) and forward Jayson Tatum (bruised back) returned to Boston after being injured. Horford had 19 points in 27 minutes; Tatum had a team top of 21 out of 34.

Irving played his first six seasons with Cleveland. The star player six times has requested an exchange after the 2016-17 season and has been transferred to Boston. He has not played in Cleveland since the first match of 2017-18.
