The green knight features a star-spangled ensemble cast, including Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) as Sir Gauvain, Alicia vikander (Danish girl) as Lady, Joel edgerton (Gatsby the magnificent) as Lord, Sarita choudhury (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2) as Gauvain’s mother, Sean harris (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) like King Arthur, Kate dickie (The iron Throne) as Queen Guinevere, Barry keoghan (Dunkirk) as a scavenger, and Ralph ineson (Milkshakes with powder) as the titular Green Knight. The film is based on the poem Sir Gauvain and the Green Knight, one of the classic Arthurian legends. The green knight follows the story of King Arthur’s brave and stubborn nephew, Sir Gawain (Patel). Risking his own head, Sir Gawain sets out on a quest to confront the tree-like creature known as the Green Knight.

No, The green knight will not have a streaming version at this time. While most studios have chosen to release movies online and in theaters at the same time due to the COVID-19 situation, A24 is not joining the dual rollout movement.

A24 has remained firm on a theatrical release for The green knight. The dual deployment model has come under criticism because of how it affects the theater industry. Either way, it’s a movie you’ll have to go to the theaters to watch, at least for now.

When is The Green Knight coming to digital or VOD?

While it won’t be streaming immediately, there is still hope that The green knight will eventually get a home version. It might take a few months for the movie to release digitally and on VOD, but going to the movies is still the best option if you want to see the movie when it premieres.

The green knight is currently slated for release in the United States on July 30, 2021. It comes after a series of delays in its release schedule.

The film was originally slated to have its world premiere at the South by Southwest Festival on March 16, 2020. According to the original plan, this would have been followed by a theatrical release on May 29, 2020. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic threw a wrench in the works and the festival was canceled, the film being withdrawn from the program.

It’s been a long wait for the movie premiere but it seems The green knight is going to be worth the time it took to bring it to the big screen. With the number of coronavirus cases declining across the country and the vaccine rollout being widespread, moviegoers can finally return to their local theaters. But that said, check your state’s most recent safety guidelines before booking your tickets for the show and take all necessary precautions.

UK fans will have to wait a bit longer to watch The green knight. The film was due to hit theaters nationwide on August 6, but Variety reports that the film was pulled from the release schedule at the last minute by its UK distributors, Entertainment Film Distributors. The sudden change of plans is due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in the country and it is currently unclear when the film could have its UK premiere.
