Fans are still debating this question

If one does a quick online search, it’s clear that fans are wondering if Korra has been stronger than Aang for some time. With both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The legend of Korra on Netflix now, it looks like the fan debate is only getting stronger.

“I think Korra is more powerful than Aang physically and probably also spiritually. It’s hard to compare them as they both accomplished as much as the Avatar and are great at different things. We never see Aang (or Korra) in their prime numbers and it’s not so fair to judge them against each other when Aang is younger / less experienced. Either way, Korra’s feats in combat and defeating more menacing enemies are more impressive to me than what Aang did, ”one Reddit user suggested.

Another Reddit user disagreed, writing, “Korra is canonically weaker in Avatar form than Aang, due to her loss of all the power and experience of previous Avatars, against Aang having everyone in front of her. “

Why fans think Aang could be stronger than Korra

In Avatar: The Last Airbender, Aang was already an airbending master by the age of 12. He was also skilled in combat and could take on multiple people at once with just airbending.

Most Avatars don’t learn that they are the Avatar until they are 16, but Aang learned at the age of 12 due to the increasing strength of the Fire Nation. During his time in the Avatar State, he remained alive in ice for 100 years. Upon awakening, he then proceeds to learn the other three elements in a very short period of time.

Aang also learned energy bending at a young age. He uses this new power during his fight with Fire Lord Ozai to eliminate Ozai’s Firebending. Aang learned to harness energy so as not to have to kill Ozai as it went against his morals. He is seen using energy bending in a flashback in The legend of Korra when he takes power away from a bloodbender.

When the audience first meets Aang, he struggles to enter the Avatar State. He could only do this during times of distress and he had no control over it. By the end of the series, he learned to control her. Aang has also always had a strong connection to the Spirit World for Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Reasons Korra Is Stronger Than Aang

When the audience meets Korra, she is 16 and is already a master of Waterbending, Earthbending, and Firebending. Tenzin, Aang’s son, then teaches him airbending during the first season. Unlike Aang, Korra is able to break out of a Bloodbender’s control without entering the Avatar State.

As Korra constantly struggled with her spiritual side The legend of Korra, she has always shown remarkable strength. At the end of Season 2, she unlocks the ability to become a Spirit Titan even after losing her connection with the old avatars.

Korra becomes adept at Metalbending and Healing, two rare forms of Earthbending and Waterbending. Even without bending, Korra possesses great raw strength.

In season 3 of The legend of Korra, a villain named Zaheer poisons Korra in an effort to force her into the Avatar State to kill her. He ended up underestimating Korra, and she is able to hold out long enough to survive in the Avatar State.

Who is the most powerful?

With both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The legend of Korra, fans don’t see Aang or Korra reaching their full potential. Instead, they see the two characters overcome their weaknesses by learning to be the Avatar.

In some ways, Aang and Korra are complements to each other, and what one excelled at in the other struggled. However, when you compare their ages, skills, and the villains they’ve faced in their seasons, Korra comes across as stronger and more powerful than Aang.
