Is Meghan Markle already preparing a candidacy to become the first female president of the United States?

Meghan Markle will use the fury of her interview with Oprah to launch a political career that could take her to the White House, if the rumors circulating around Westminster last week prove to be correct.

A high-profile Labor figure – a veteran of Tony Blair’s administration in Downing Street and with close ties to Washington – told the Mail on Sunday that Ms Markle, 39, was networking among Democrats with a view to creating a campaign and fundraising teams for a tilt for the US presidency.

Last night, a source close to the Duchess of Sussex declined to comment, but the couple made no secret of their political beliefs.

In last year’s US election, they launched a thinly veiled attack on Donald Trump, urging voters to “ reject hate speech, ” which a spokesperson for the couple described as “ a appeal to decency ”. Trump himself has said he is ‘not a fan’ of Meghan, 39.

US constitutional scholars responded that she would have to relinquish her title if she wanted to take up public office in the United States, as it would violate the American pledge of allegiance.

Buckingham Palace tried to distance the royals from remarks made in the U.S. election by issuing a statement saying ‘the Duke is not an active member of the royal family’ and describing his comments as’ made to personal title ”.

The source added that the presumption was that the Duchess was eyeing 2024, when President Joe Biden turns 82 and decides whether he wants to run for a second term.
