Maybe it sounds worse than it really was. You see the title – a combination of the name Conor McGregor and the words "arrested for armed robbery" – and you can not help but think of all sorts of fantastic scenarios.
Was the former UFC division's two champion in Miami Beach stealing chains or stealing wallets? Then you continue to read and learn, no, he just (allegedly) slapped a guy's cell phone, then stomped on it before taking it and carrying it with him. That's the sort of thing that looks cool when Tony Stark does it, but it ends up being a real crime in real life.
Who knew, no? Well, probably most of us. But rest.
Some questions arise when you start adding up all the clues. Questions such as, among all the images that people try to take from McGregor on all cell phones, what is so shocking about it that he just could not afford it? Questions such as: does the answer have anything to do with the fact that it would have happened in front of a hotel with a disco around 5 o'clock in the morning?
Taken in isolation, it would probably be just another minor celebrity blip. So McGregor lost his temper and broke your phone. He will end up buying you a new one, probably with a little extra for your terrible emotional pain.
And come on, have you seen how some people act around celebrities? You feel that you are entitled to something, as if that person owes you something – a selfie, a moment of his time, an autograph – all because you had already seen it on television. It's a wonder that more phones do not end up on the sidewalk.
But with McGregor, the question of how it fits into the general narrative is inevitable. Just last week, he had completed his court-ordered community service by helping in the Brooklyn churches as a penance for throwing a hand truck through the window of a bus before UFC 223. TMZ He even told us that he had had a "long and rewarding conversation with a reverend" during his work.

What a guy, right? Clearly, he was a different man from the one who went mad on a loading dock last April.
Then this, a week later. The guy with the newborn at home is at 5 am in Miami Beach, where he allegedly attacked personal electronic devices. Suddenly, the new leaf he returned looks very much like the old one. It also sheds new light on Donald Cerrone's claim that he "passed the silence on the radio" during negotiations on a combat project.
Time has the power to dispel some of these incidents in the public mind. Mike Tyson injured his hand in a street fight with a teammate in front of a tuxedo rental shop all night long, at its peak, and it's now another Tyson's wild story, the nice people who are telling a smile.
Still, things like this sometimes give us a glimpse of what's going on in a person's life. And for McGregor, who spent most of the year pushing the accusations one after the other, it does not exactly describe a quiet or even concentrated existence.
It's more like a guy who turns into a set of celebrity snapshots, traveling a predictable trajectory with all the highs and lows known. Even though we have seen this movie before, we do not seem to stop entertaining us.
You know, as long as our precious phones stay at a safe distance.
