Is the Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi series of trying to redeem Darth Vader? Lucasfilm kept the exact details of the Obi-Wan Kenobi event series under tight wraps, but the new production launch announcement and full cast reveal helped the hardcore. Star wars fans connect important points. The events of Obi wan kenobi will be fixed ten years later Revenge of the Sith – the last time Obi-Wan saw Anakin Skywalker, during their tragic duel over Mustafar.

This timeline, compared to some key lines and moments in Star Wars’ The original trilogy certainly shows that this particular chapter in Obi-Wan’s life will be about trying to redeem Anakin from Darth Vader’s nightmare.

“Obi-Wan thought like you”

This Darth Vader’s line of dialogue comes from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, in a scene where Vader takes Luke Skywalker to the Emperor’s house. Luke senses the conflict between the characters “Anakin Skywalker” and “Darth Vader” inside his father and doubts his commitment to the Emperor. Luke goes so far as to try to tempt Vader to escape with him, but Vader resists the offer, stating that, “Obi-Wan once thought like you. You don’t know the power of the dark side. I MUST obey Master. . “

Much attention has been paid to this line since the release of the Star wars Prequel Trilogy as it doesn’t seem to fit in with the events of Obi-Wan and Anakin’s duel in Revenge of the Sith. Other fans have tried to argue that the dialogue of DESPITE was enough to coincide with Vader’s account of things ROTJ – but clearly, the powers behind Star wars feel that there is more story to tell.

Obi-Wan v. Dad

The other big gap in Star wars canon is the fact that Obi-Wan already knows that Anakin became Vader at the time of the events of Star Wars: A New Hope. At the end of Revenge of the Sith, Kenobi believes Anakin dies a gruesome death on Mustafar – so the realization that he is Vader is still part of the story that needs to be told. In the nineteen years between Revenge of the Sith and New hope it makes sense that Obi-Wan tries to confront – and redeem – Vader at least once.

Now Obi wan kenobi can fill this gap in the timeline, in a powerful and dramatic way. Obi-Wan hearing about Vader would be about the only thing that could compel him to quit his post of watching Luke Skywalker on Tatooine, in order to verify if the mighty Sith Lord is indeed his former friend and apprentice. And once he confirms it, Obi-Wan is the type to at least try to bring Anakin back to light – at least once.
