Lego and Porsche already have a history. Remember the brilliantly detailed Technic packages of the 911 RSR and GT3 RS? And then there were the small Speed Champions kits from the same RSR and the 911 Turbo 3.0. Everything is awesome.
This latest collaboration may have produced the largest automotive-related Lego set to date, however.
The basics are as follows. This is a 1,458 brick kit that includes what Lego calls “ double construction roads ”. It’s basically a two-in-one package that you can turn into a wide whale tail 930 911 Turbo or an open top 911 Targa.
Fantastic isn’t it? Lego had to design new elements for the curved shoulder area on both cars and the rear arches of the Turbo, but almost everything else is an existing Lego brick. Even the Targa’s rear window is made up of six previous parts.
The interior is a beautiful beige color and includes the rear seats of the 911 as well as a fully functional handbrake, gear lever and steering. The front seats tilt forward for proper rear access, and the engine bay features a fitting recreation of that glorious 3.0-liter flat-six engine. There’s even a mini Lego turbocharger and a wider rear axle for the whale-tailer.
Oh, and the Targa’s removable roof fits right into the front trunk area, and there’s the option of silver or black Fuchs-style wheels. Cared for.
Early adopters who purchase through the LEGO VIP Loyalty Program will also receive a Lego Porsche Owners Club Pack with their set, which includes – among other parts – brilliant recreations of Porsche advertisements from the late 1970s and early 1970s. 80 years.
The complete set with the two build routes will cost £ 119.99 and will be part of the Lego Creator Expert series. What do we think, guys?
