"First Reformed", "If Beale Street Could Talk" and more are the winners of the National Board of Review this year.

The National Board of Review (NBR) has announced its choices for the best movies and performances of 2018. The organization is made up of film buffs, industry professionals, academics and filmmakers.

The NBR is one of the first organizations to announce its end-of-year selections, closely followed by the New York Film Critics Circle (Nov. 29). The awards season began with the Gotham Awards on November 27, where Bo Burnham's "eighth year" and Paul Schrader's "First Reformed" won two awards. "The Rider" surprised to win the best feature film.

Last year, the National Board of Review rewarded Steven Spielberg's "The Post" and awarded the trophy to movie stars Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks, with the Best Actress and Best Actor trophies. Other winners include "The Florida Project", "Lady Bird", "Phantom Thread", "Call Me By Your Name" and "Coco", all of which have received Oscar nominations and / or victories.
