IDF will provide educational assistance to the original haredi soldiers

Today, about 1,300 soldiers, who were educated in ultra-Orthodox schools, left the religion and were enlisted as regular soldiers.

The Lobby of the Graduates of the Ultra-Orthodox Educational Institutions met on Tuesday in the Knesset, led by the advocacy group Out for Change and led by Karin Elharar (Yesh Atid) and Michal Rozin (Meretz).

The Lobby will focus on existing gaps, and the damage it does to those who have grown up as Haredim and are now trying to integrate into secular society.

Over the years, the IDF has invested in badisting those who have received an ultra-Orthodox education and have subsequently been integrated in designated military routes such as the Netzah Yehuda Battalion and the Shachar Battalion, to help them overcome their shortcomings.

However, those who, before enlisting, left the religion, do not qualify for these benefits since they went through regular drafts of the IDF.

After years of campaigning, including Out for Change, for the first time all graduates of ultra-Orthodox educational cadres will be eligible for "Perek Mesima".

The project will be overseen by Haredi's director in IDF and the Fund and the Uniformed Soldiers' Leadership Unit.

"There is no reason for people from the same cultural background and with similar academic shortcomings not to be eligible for the same benefits," says Out for Change Vice President Yossi Klar.

"It is the responsibility of our country and, of course, it is in the country's interest to allow those who wish to integrate into the secular Israeli society to do so. Israeli military approach is appreciated and I hope that other ministries will join the Israeli army to end the discrimination of those who are raised in the haredi society, even though They do not wear caps, Klar added.

The IDF spokesman's unit explains the decision to extend the program "Perek Mesima".

"In light of the increase in those who have an ultra-orthodox education level enlisting the regular IDF project, the director of Haredi in the IDF and the Fund and Unit to Lead Liberated Soldiers have established a program that and the appropriate response to soldiers with a Haredi background, "said the official statement.
