Huawei's first 5G phone could be an energy-hungry beast, report says

Huawei's first generation of 5G chips consumes 2.5 times the power of its current 4G chips, and requires a 0.4mm copper heat sink to stay cool, according to a new report.

The news of electricity consumption has been confirmed by Huawei's CEO, Eric Xu, reports Digitimes. This should make the first generation of 5G phones much larger, as manufacturers may have to work to adapt to the extra battery capacity and radiator required to keep the chip cool.
