Best of Tennessee Craft Aug 4 – Oct 14 | Crouch, Orgain, & Bruner Galleries
The Best of Tennessee Craft Juried exhibition represents a full line of arts and crafts media across the state. Jury Kathryn Hall has examined 172 works to create the exhibition that will be on display until October 14. The awards for this show are sponsored by the Ayers Foundation.
With the work of the jury, the museum will present the collection of Tennessee Craft artwork, representing the best work of Tennessee artists. Started in 2001 to preserve and promote excellence in Tennessee craftsmanship for future generations, the collection develops through a special invitation to master artists for signature works.
Interpretation of the familiar: The Art of Hattie Marshall Duncan August 19 | Jostens Gallery
African-American folk sculptor Hattie Marshall Duncan creates an expressive sculpture that offers an affectionate and humorous representation of his local community in Jackson, Tennessee. She uses everyday household items such as wire hangers, plastic bottles and old basements to build frames.
After casting the figurines, she adds texture and detail by applying coffee grounds, pine cones and broken eggshells. Clothing. This exhibition is sponsored in part by the West Tennessee Regional Art Center
International Reflections: The Art of Female Artist Mentors July 5 – September 2 | Kimbrough Gallery
This exhibition represents five women artists who come together in a spirit of friendship and support each other in their artistic careers. Members of Women Artists Mentors (WAM) meet once a month in an online video chat
Everyone has different levels of experience in pursuing a career in the arts. In May 2016, the five members finally found each other in Venice, Italy. Since then, they have spent time together in Montreal, Canada.
The bonds woven this week in Venice have not only solidified a group committed to helping each other in the fields of art and business, but have also helped forge lasting friendships. The group consists of Virginia artist Debra Keirce, Helen K. About the Customs Museum
Located in the heart of historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee, the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is the second largest General museum of the state. The original part of the building was built in 1898 as a post office and US customs for the thriving tobacco trade. Incorporating a number of architectural styles, the original structure is one of the most photographed buildings in the area.
With over 35,000 square feet of activities and special events in the area … people of all ages are in agreement The museum is definitely worth the detour!
The Gallery of the Explorer is filled with fun, learning and fantasy in Aunt Alice's Attic, McGregor's Market & Kitchen, and of course – the bubble cave! Finally, board to see our fantastic model trains. Our volunteer engineers "ride the rails" every Sunday afternoon from 1 pm to 4 pm
Regular museum hours are from 10 am to 5 pm Tuesday to Saturday and 1 pm to 5 pm Sunday. Admission of adults: $ 7.00, $ 5.00 for seniors and 5 to 6 years $ 3.00 for seniors and under six for members of the Museum
