Saved and Kept by God (Part 2) John 10: 27-29 | Community

Primary Truth Taught – God always takes the initiative in salvation and once saved He eternally keeps His own.

The Reason We are Eternally Secure

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. 30 I and the Father are one. "

To Jesus' followers, we hear Him. We can make the connection between what He says and His Messiahship. We see the works We have the supernatural piece that makes the connection for us because of the Holy Spirit.

This amazing truth … If you get it and believe it's because you are His. Again we have Jesus' sheep, we did not hear His voice and follow to become one of us.

If you are following Christ today, please give his name because it is the proof that you are His.

How does God love those who are following His Son? Jesus says, I give them eternal life and they will never perish.

The contrast here is what John wants us to get …

First, those who are not Jesus' sheep in the story or followers in real life can not hear, understand or believe. The reason is given by Jesus … they are not His sheep. So, we're going to see the totality of mankind from God's work to bring us to life. If God does not work first, no one can come to Christ …

44 No one can come to me unless Father who feels me draws him. And I will be rising on the last day.

Then Jesus repeats the same saying a few verses later in 6:65. Here is a case study in which ones look like who can not come to Jesus. Their interest in Jesus is simply to catch Him in something so they can kill Him.

Second, Those who are His followers can not stop to Him. Let's trace this dynamic for a moment. Jesus says that He knows His followers. Notice, He does not say that His followers know Him, that is badumed in the context. The stress Jesus places on knowing that He knows His followers. This is a very important piece of the puzzle. You see Jesus knows his followers from eternity past. Before we were ever created He already knew us. God's knowing us is not just that we've been acquainted with us.

Here's what it looks like to be loved and known by God …

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 even as he hath us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespbades, according to the rich of his grace, which he knows, in all wisdom and insight purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, 12 so that we may have been first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory . 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, which is the guarantee of our inheritance praise of his glory.

Oh, what blessing and gifts of grace God has lavished upon us as His people.

All this is not offered but given. In other words, it's just as impossible as it is for a non-follower to hear and respond to the gospel, it is just as impossible for His people to not receive what God gives.

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. 30 I and the Father are one. "

We are given eternal life, not offered eternal life. An offer can be refused; There is no refusing what God gives. God gives eternal life to all Jesus' followers.

I have heard you say that you are very good at it and I think it is true that God gives you a gift at the same time. That's NOT what is going on here. How can a sinner reach out to accept the gift of eternal life? Either you are a follower and eternally dead or you are a follower and eternally alive. There is nothing in between and nothing we do. God does it all.

Not only are we given eternal life but this eternal life is guaranteed to never end. We can not die spiritually. It is an impossibility for a follower (one of Jesus' sheep) to ever stop being one of His sheep. We are eternally secure.

There are two impossibilities here. Those who are not His sheep will never come to Him; in fact, they can not. The other impossibility is for one of his sheep to be one of his sheep. We are secured within Trinity …

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. 30 I and the Father are one. "

The focus here is not so much on eternal life being eternal – which it is – but on the power of God to keep all who are His. To put it in simple terms, no one can steal from God. No one can jump the sheep and carry off one of God's sheep.

3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

According to Jesus, no one can snatch us out of the sheepfold. Remember back to the parable? Jesus tells us that the robber and thief come out and try to snatch us out of the sheep pen, but we learn that they are always unsuccessful because of the power of God. Our Lord declares that we can not catch us out of His hand. But look closely and read carefully. He says that God has given us to Jesus and we can not catch us out of God's hand. How can the god give us to God the Son and we still be in the hands of both?

30 I and the Father are one. "

Everything Jesus does not depend on His Father.

What we have in this pbadage is Jesus' promised to all who truly believe that He is the Christ of the Son of God. All who will be kept alive by the power of God for all eternity. Our future is completely secure.

The great thing about eternal life is that it has already begun. We do not need to wait for it to begin if you are in Christ, it has already started. Do not worry about it, do not worry about it, do not worry about it … if you believe, you have been given eternal life by God.

Sometimes we struggle in this world and we feel that we do not have eternal life. You can feel that way right now. Remember, it's not a feeling but belief. The question to ask yourself when you're feeling like you're in possession of eternal life is this: Right now am I believing Jesus is the Christ of the Son of God?

30 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

Thanks for reading this week's article from John 10. I pray you have a firm belief that Jesus is the Christ (Messiah) in order that you will have eternal life in His name.
