Here is the AP summary:
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Kevin Byard ensured the interception that sparked the lazy Tennessee Titans and turned to the midfield.
The flashback for the Dallas Cowboys was as disheartening as the original.
Byard imitated Terrell Owens's mocking celebration on the star logo on the 50-yard line 18 years ago. Marcus Mariota scored three touchdowns and the Titans spoiled Amari Cooper's Dallas debut with a 28-14 win Monday night.
Dak Prescott's selection in the end zone came after Mariota escaped the first two possessions in Tennessee. Just like T.O. C is what it did 18 years ago, at Texas Stadium, under the gigantic video board of the vast AT & T stadium.
Owens has made it twice in a spectacular win against a poor Dallas team. The Titan win (4-4) ended their run of three consecutive losses while leaving the Cowboys (3-5) their first defeat in four home games, making it hard for them to make the playoffs.
"It was huge," said Mariota about Byard, adding that he had not attended the party. "The defense has done incredible work throughout the year building us and has found a way to give us plays, get turnarounds.
The Cowboys looked like a team headed for a dastardly victory, but were leading just 7-0 after Mariota's foul play, due to Brett Maher's lack of 38-yard possession goal and misguided attempt Prescott to do double cover.
"It was the difference, as simple as that," said Prescott, who lost a breakaway on his 40-yard line to set Tennessee's decisive score in the third quarter. "The Defense is giving a figure there, we've gained seven points and I'm going to try to force the ball and give it back to them."
Cooper scored the first touchdown in Dallas after DeMarcus Lawrence pulled out Mariota's ball. The Pro Bowl's two-time catcher finished the race with five catches for 58 yards after coming out of Oakland for a first-round pick during the open week.
Mariota led a 80-yard pbad, blocked by Derrick Henry's 1-1. yard plunge for a 7-7 draw.
Mariota converted two thirds and 9 with pbades and a third shorter with a race in his first try in TD, paving the way for the Titans to convert 11 of the 14 third-third tries.
The Cowboys fell to the water after 15 years of delay for Jason Witten's first trip since retiring to become the chief badyst of "Monday Night Football".
Dallas only rushed for 108 yards in the second period – the majority of those needing to lose two late goals – and was booed several times at the end of the failed attempts.
After being sacked at third base while no one realized that Tennessee had called timeout in a match at 7-7 in the second quarter, Mariota completed a 36-yard pbad for Darius Jennings before a pbad screen for Dion Lewis who has ambaded 18 yards for a touchdown.
Mariota broke the 14-14 tie in the third quarter when he removed the ball from Lewis's bowel at the last second and delivered a 7-yard shovel pbad to Jonnu Smith to give to the Titans a length in advance. Mariota's 9-yard goal was all but sealed in 4:38.
Mariota was 21 out of 29 for 240 yards without an interception and 32 yards on the ground. Lewis had 62 rushing yards and 60 conceded with a career-high 155 scrimmage yards in his last game.
Star Dallas midfielder Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 61 yards following a very warm start. Prescott was 21 out of 31 for 243 yards and two goals – 4 yards at Cooper and 23 yards at Allen Hurns. Both turnovers were the first for Prescott at home this season.
AT. BACK BACK
Byard's celebration was something familiar: a Dallas defender trying to do something.
At the time, George Teague had ousted Owens from the star, and Cowboys cornerback Byron Jones had done the same against Byard and the group that had participated in the celebration. Owens seemed to have a kick for all this on Twitter.
"In fact, I was expecting someone to cut off my head," said Byard, who thought of the possible celebration at the hotel teams. "I was like:" If we get to the 50s, if we have enough guys for the 50s, we'll just start dancing on the star. "
TRIBUTE WITTEN
The Cowboys paid tribute to Witten with a pre-game video on the giant board hanging over the field. The leader of the franchise in the games, the catches and the receiving yards wiped his eyes when he showed a small extract of it during the video, but he seems to have regained his composure when he been viewed in full screen. Witten waved, smiled, and patted his chest a few times around the heart as the crowd roared.
INJURY
Dallas LB Sean Lee injured the hamstring as he tried to cover Smith after 26 meters in front of the Titans. Lee did not return. … WR Titans Taywan Taylor left with what coach Mike Vrabel has described as a leg injury.
