Bob Dylan and Neil Young will co-host a concert at the British Summer Time Festival in Hyde Park, London on July 12, 2019.
Dylan will be joined by his support group, while Young will be supported by Promise of the Real, featuring Willie Nelson's son, Lukas, with whom Young has recorded two of his most recent albums: The Monsanto Years and The Visitor .
The fans hope that both players will play together at some point in the event. This outdoor performance marks the coming together of two of North America 's most famous songwriters, who have recognized each other through the years. Young covered Dylan's Blowin 'in the Wind in an extremely noisy way for the 1991 Arc / Weld tour and soon after 9/11, while Bob Dylan covered Young Old Man in concert.
Young nicknamed "BobFest": a 30th anniversary celebration of Dylan's music featuring the duo playing Knockin 'on Heaven's Door alongside Eric Clapton, Johnny Cash and more. They also played together for The Last Waltz, the band's last show in 1976, filmed by Martin Scorsese.
Young described Dylan in 2005 as "the master. If I'd like to be someone, it's him … The guy wrote some of the greatest poems and set them to music in a way that touched me, and other people the have done, but not so consistently or intensely.
Dylan, however, stated that he was troubled upon hearing Young's song, Heart of Gold, on the radio, when it aired in 1972. "I think it has long been at number 1, and I would say: "Shit, that's me. If it sounds like me, it should be me as well. It seemed to me that someone else had taken my object and fled with him, and you know, I never got over it.
The year has been rich in events for Young. He married Darryl Hannah in August, opened his catalog as part of a major online archive project, and lost his home following recent California fires, accusing Donald Trump of reacting to the disaster. . At age 77, Dylan continues with a busy tour schedule: he has performed in Europe, Australia and the United States in 2018, and is currently performing at the Beacon Theater in New York.
