The US-based US-based carpool start-up, Via, will jointly launch an on-demand mini-bus pilot service with the company that operates buses in the Tel Aviv area. The service will begin operations in early 2019, said Via in a statement Tuesday.
The service offered by Dan Bus Company will use the technology and operating system developed by Via, which already operates intelligent public transport management systems in 40 cities, including New York, Washington, Chicago, London, Sydney, Paris , Amsterdam, Berlin and Tokyo. said the statement.
Via has developed a car-sharing service on demand: its mobile application connects several pbadengers who are heading in the same direction, which allows pbadengers to share a vehicle.

Users will be able to order the transport service via the Via special application created for the driver. The vehicle will pick them up at a nearby collection point, which will be defined based on real-time traffic conditions and demand. The app will also allow users to track the estimated time of collection of the vehicle and the estimated time of arrival at their destination.
Via's operating system uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to map efficient routes while optimizing the allocation of different vehicles and their available space, the statement said.
Launched in New York in September 2013 and founded by Israelis Daniel Ramot and Oren Shoval, the Via platform currently offers more than a million trips per month. Via also concedes its on-demand transit technology to transport operators around the world.
Last year, Mercedes-Benz Vans announced the reinforcement of its collaboration with Via to penetrate the carpool market and set up on-demand shared circuits in the European market.
The Israeli Ministry of Transport has launched the pilot project to improve transit services through the use of advanced technology, the statement said.
