"Gaza is on the brink of another war," Mladenov said. At the post-Jerusalem diplomatic conference in Jerusalem, Mladenov hinted that Iran was working to destabilize the situation in Gaza.
On Tuesday, he told an audience of women in Tel Aviv that they were an important ally in supporting the peace process.
"Yes, we can challenge these extremists, those who provoke anger, who stir up hatred everywhere in the region, who face them and support the moderate forces that want lasting forces. [stand up] the challenge we have today, "he said.
He called on women to help put pressure on Israeli and Palestinian politicians to return to the negotiating table.

Some 1,000 women attended the Tel Aviv event, said a spokesman for the group.
Opposition leader Tzipi Livni said the main obstacle to peace was the current leadership, but that it could be replaced.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prevents war with Hamas, said Livni, but also prevents peace.
She stated that she supports a legislative initiative of the group, which is yet to adopt the Cabinet Legislative Committee to force Cabinet to explore strategic alternatives to violence before embarking on a military campaign.
