Wrestling Inc. has learned that FOX wants Ronda Rousey to be on the SmackDown list SmackDown Live! moves to the network. FOX believes that Rousey's history of MMA, popularity and credibility as an athlete will be a major selling point for the promotion of the show.
As previously stated, FOX would have Smack down have more sporting orientation and less comedy to integrate with their other sports programs. Rousey's addition to SmackDown Live should make it a key player in their efforts to conduct cross-promotional campaigns between other WWE and FOX programs.
As noted, UFC heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier, was recently invited to test the WWE as a commentator. According to some sources, FOX loves Cormier and wants the WWE to sign him as a commentator. Cormier had to postpone the try because of his title defense against Derrick Lewis at UFC 230 earlier this month but recently said Busted Open Radio that he still plans to audition.
Rousey is the current RAW Women Champion. While WWE usually runs brand transactions shortly after WrestleMania, it will be interesting to see if they wait until Smack down moved to FOX in October 2019.
