The next movie Gears of War from Microsoft and Jurbadic World Universal has found a writer, it seems. The Wrap reports that Universal hired F. Scott Frazier to write the upcoming untitled Gears of War. He had previously written xXx action movies: Return of Xander Cage with Vin Diesel and Collide with Anthony Hopkins and Nicholas Hoult.
It has already been announced that another screenwriter of action films, Shane Salerno (Armageddon, Shaft), had been hired to write the script for the movie Gears of War. Things are changing all the time in Hollywood, especially with regards to scripts, so that a change in writing tasks is not unusual or unexpected.
The director of Gears of War, Rod Fergusson, who also produces the film, apparently confirmed the information on Twitter from re-tweet The Wrap's report. "You said you wanted news from the movie Gears, is not it?" he said.
A film from Gears of War has been very long to come. The Lord of the Rings The New Line Cinema studio bought the rights to make a game-based movie in 2007, but in October 2016, Microsoft confirmed that the film Gears of War was in preparation with Universal Pictures.
Rod Fergusson had previously stated that the film's purpose was not necessarily to copy the story of a previous Gears game. Fergusson instead said he wanted to make the best Gears movie possible rather than the one most faithful to the games.
It is not yet known who will star in the movie Gears of War, but actor Guardians of the Galaxy, Dave Bautista, said that Marcus Fenix was his dream role. Since there are no details available on the script, we do not even know if Fenix, or his son JD, will be in the movie.
The late Tony Scott, who directed Top Gun and Man On Fire, would have liked to direct the movie Gears of War.
The next main game of Gears of War is Gears 5, which will be released in 2019 on Xbox One and PC. This is the first participation of the series with a playable female role. The game tells the story of Kait Diaz, who was introduced for the first time in Gears of War 4 and whose character resulted in a dramatic conclusion, leaving many people wondering what would happen next.
In addition to Gears 5, Microsoft is developing a PC strategy game called Gears Tactics and the mobile spin-off Gears Pop.
