In 2004, the IDF decided to open the role of supervisor of kashrut to girls, but this decision has not been implemented since then due to various objections from the military rabbinate.

A few months ago, the fact that the decision had not been implemented was made public and the head of the Personnel Department ordered the military rabbinate to implement the decision and recruit girls. for the post.

Women who are expected to serve as kashrut supervisors should enlist on Tuesday, December 11th. From the base of the army, they will go to the army school for human resources jobs, where they will follow a special course of two and a half weeks.

This course, which had been closed to women, will be open for the first time to women by the military rabbinate. After the course, female soldiers will occupy positions of kashrut supervisors in various units of the army.

In response, the IDF said: "The IDF uses women to integrate women equally and in accordance with the needs of the system."
