The past year has seen its share of cryptocurrency scams largely indistinguishable. Think of a name. [Noun]Coin and its founders have probably been accused of fraud in the last 16 months. Most of these bone-headed people bleed together in a long libertarian migraine – but only one of them can claim to have cost over $ 750,000 to DJ Khaled and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
To this end: Congratulations Centra Tech!
Sohrab "Sam" Sharma and Robert Farkas, the brains behind Centra Tech, were accused by the SEC in April of allegedly infringing on $ 32 million of investors with a "fraudulent coin offer" . Big banks and invented staff – all that while Khaled and Mayweather were publicly promoting Centra's OIC. And for months it seemed like it was the last chapter of an immemorial scam: two B list celebrities were fooled to endorse them.
Today, however, the SEC has announced that "Money" Mayweather had failed to disclose a payment of $ 100,000 that he had received from Centra Tech for his services. Khaled, in what was probably a troubling discovery, only received half of these fees, although the agency claims that he also did not disclose these fees.
Without admitting or denying the results, Mayweather and Khaled agreed to pay the disgorges, penalties and interest. Mayweather agreed to pay $ 300,000 in restitution, a $ 300,000 fine and $ 14,775 in prejudgment interest. Khaled agreed to pay $ 50,000 in restitution, a fine of $ 100,000 and $ 2,725 in prejudgment interest.
Hopefully this would tie the infamous saga of Centra Tech, a company whose $ 32 million is still not perfectly understood.
