Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly frozen the case against the blue-and-white leader Benny Gantz, following the recommendations of his lawyers.
A defamation lawsuit of one million NIS against political opponents of Netanyahu's blue-and-white party, Benny Gantz, Moshe Ya'alon and Yair Lapid has been sitting on the prime minister's desk for a week. This despite the fact that Netanyahu stated prior to his flight to the United States that he had instructed his lawyers to file a lawsuit against Ganz, Ya'alon and Lapid, in view of the charges against him in the case of the sub -marine and that he had betrayed the national security money.
According to a report by Maariv, Netanyahu decided to freeze the trial and refrained from submitting it, after his lawyers had suspected that this could be a useless and problematic trap for him, because of the shares held by Netanyahu, which is currently being examined by the Attorney General's Office.
His lawyers told Netanyahu that he should testify and be interviewed at the witness's stand for his role in the submarine business, and that he should allow his opponents to consider closer to the facts.
Since the public debate had already moved from the submarine business to other issues, Netanyahu felt it was of little value to present the complaint, which would bring the problem back to the table.
The prime minister's office rejected the request, saying it was "a complete lie.The lawsuit is being prepared and will be filed soon".
