A deer in two other Michigan counties may have had a life-threatening illness

State officials said deer from two other Michigan counties were suspected of having a chronic debilitating disease.

According to the Department of Natural Resources, hunters recently killed a four-year-old goat in Pine River Township, Gratiot County, and two-year-olds in Carmel Township, Eaton County. which exhibited signs of a deadly neurological disease.

The samples were sent to the National Veterinary Services Laboratory in Ames, Iowa, which is expected to provide a diagnosis next week.

Chronic burnout has already been confirmed in Clinton, Dickinson, Ingham, Ionia, Jackson, Kent and Montcalm Counties.

MNR claims to have tested more than 16,000 deer this year. Twenty were tested positive and the results on 18 others are incomplete.
